Mr. Larry Prock
Mr. Prock began work in custom panel meters and service of instrumentation at Brownell Electro in 1973 as a Senior Technician. A company based out of NY with offices on the east coast, they were originally a distributor for electric motors and insulation. Gradually they diversified with electronic components and controls and with this they developed a lab to repair and calibrate instruments used in the motor shops and later came the distribution of panel meters.
Beginning as Electro-Tech, through the years Brownell Electro had variations of management and derived different names such as Brownell, Brownell M&I, Brownell Instruments and Controls. A large company called "Avnet" invested in many smaller companies. Brownell was one of them. After an investment by Avnet in the early 90's, Brownell was split with the motors & insulation division sold to a company called Essex...the instruments and controls division became "Avent Industrial" selling instruments and controls and all the while having the meters labs. Mr. Prock was asked to stay at each venture and was consistantly promoted through each tenure.
After five or so years, Avnet following suit, sold Avnet Industrial to Carlton-Bates Company. After every change our customer base declined. If a customer has a requirement to find that standard or special panel meter they bought from Brownell in 1974, Driven Company wants to be available to them if possible.
Carlton-Bates company (CBC) bought that division in around 1996. They aquired all the lines that the Avnet Industrial Co. had as well as the customers...and the meter labs...now down from 13 to 2 with labs in Memphis and Atlanta. CBC decided they only needed the one lab so Memphis was consolidated into Atlanta and was located in Tucker, GA.
In 2003 an opportunity arose for the purchase the labs and form a new organization, Driven Company. Our intentions is that Driven Company would continue to provide product to the CBC customer base while providing the very best in modification, customization, service, calibration and sales while growing their own customer base.
