ANALOG PANEL METERS

Okay, just some panel meter descriptions and let's start with analog...in general we have the different mfgs that offer different size shapes and so on.  Some panel meters are round, some are square, some are rectangular, some are edgewise and so on...get the idea? Maybe I'll just begin to make a glossary of terms.  You might even find yourself refering back to this glossary to see exactly what the heck Larry was talking about around the 10th hour....

Analog...it has a pointer vs a digital...same as your watch...is it a digital or is it analog.

Size..meters are generalized by size as 2 1/2" (2.5"), 3.5", 4.5", etc.  None of the meters are exactly 2.5" or 3.5", it's just an approx size to get something close the the customer requirements.

Electricity....wherever there is electricity three things are present (there are others but let's stick to what applies to these panel meters)..there is Current (or amperes), there is Potential (or volts) and resistance (or ohms).

AC.....Think of it as alternating electricity..it travels back and forth....When we talk specifics of any panel meter we have to know if it's AC or DC...night and day when it comes to measuring this electricity with a panel meter.

DC.....Think of it as direct electricity..it travels in only one direction....When we talk specifics of any panel meter we have to know if it's AC or DC...night and day when it comes to measuring this electricity with a panel meter.
